Eastern Gauteng Badminton Association comes out tops

The children braved the cold and the snow to be part of the winning group.

Duduza – Two Eyethu Badminton Development Club players were selected to represent the Eastern Gauteng Badminton Association at the SA U9, U11 and U13 Open and Inter-Provincial Championships from July 9 to 15 at the Alberton van der Merwe Badminton Hall.

Various provinces participated, but Eastern Gauteng won overall and took the first position.

Kamohelo Tombokwayo (12) and Wandile Mtshali (10), both from Mmuso Primary School, made Eyethu proud when they played well and were part of the winning team.

Eyethu coach Roller Mongala said, “It was a long week of badminton. These children braved the cold weather and the snow to be part of the winning group.

“Thanks to the Southern Gauteng Badminton Association as the hosts and Badminton South Africa for organising this grassroots event. Eyethu is proud of the players,” he concluded.
