Tsakani – As part of 67 minutes for Mandela Day, 935 Lifestyle dedicated itself to feeding 300 matric learners and assisting graduates and the unemployed to apply for government vacancies.

Thabang Mashiane from 935 Lifestyle said the internationally observed day requires citizens to carry the ability and the responsibility to change the world for the better.

Mandela Day is an occasion for all to take action and inspire change.

“Our is to make an impact on the lives of the residents of Tsakani, targeting learners and unemployed people of Ext Eight, 13, 11, 22, Rockville, Thubelisha and other surroundings of Ward 112 and part of Ward 99.

“We fed at least 150 learners (orphans and those in need) and assisted 100 unemployed graduates and non-graduates to apply for various government posts.

“These posts are provincial and local posts as mandated by Gauteng government under the stewardship of Premier Panyaza Lesufi and the Ekurhuleni MMC for Real Estate and Economic Development, Nomadlozi Nkosi,” he said.

The team took the initiative to Tsakane Ext Eight Secondary School.

The school is known for producing the best matric results in the Eastern Gauteng Department of Education district, with the recent results being the class of 2022, who topped all the matric classes in Kwatsaduza with a pass rate improvement from 84.6% to 93.3 %.

The school is in an underprivileged community, with learners mostly coming from impoverished families who sometimes attend school without having anything to eat.

Mashiane said theyt distributed soup and bread to these matriculants during their morning classes.

“We hope this gesture will ignite their love for education and contribute to their well-being and schooling. Unemployment continues to be a stubborn pandemic as its rate continues to rise, with mostly the youth, graduates and women affected.

“Unemployment is part of the triple challenges faced which contributes to the already strained socio-economic conditions.

“With this in mind, we intend to assist the unemployed and graduates to apply for government posts with the required resources made available,” he said.
