Councillor warns community not to buy stands in Langaville Ext 7

Stands are being fraudulently sold in Langaville.

Kwatsaduza – Ward 79 Clr Njabulo Mbonani warned and advised the Kwatsaduza community to be vigilant and not fall for a scamster selling housing stands.

The warning came after learning of a woman from Tsakani Ext 15, who fraudulently sold house stands at Langaville Ext 7 next to the Ekhaya Shopping Centre.

Last week, a stand was sold to a person for R65 000, and they had already paid R35 000.

Mbonani and his ward committee members tracked the culprit by pretending they wanted to buy a stand and promised to pay R20 000.

According to Mbonani, the stands belonged to the government since 2015. However, the project remained incomplete because of the changing MMCs in the metro.

Mbonani said to deal with the issue, he would soon work closely with the current MMC for Human Settlement, Masele Madihlaba.

“The lady buys stands for R20 000 from someone pretending to be from the municipality and then sells them for R65 000. Unfortunately, we pressed no charges,” Mbonani said.

He said people must be made aware that those stands were not for sale.

“Any advert selling those stands is fraudulent. Be vigilant,” Mbonani concluded.
