Langaville church opens its doors to help addicts

As the programme continues, they are helping more and more people.

Langaville – God Mercy Ministry Church in Langaville Ext Eight has been hosting nyaope addicts on Mondays and Thursdays at the church since earlier this year.

This programme aims to get addicts off the streets and try to bring them closer to God.

The addicts receive a plate of cooked food and are offered toiletries and a room to bath in while at the church.

Jerry K Monaheng, who is one of the facilitators of the programme, said they are seeing progress as the programme continues and that they are helping more and more addicts.

“We would appreciate the support from the parents of the addicts. They should come spend the days with us,” Monaheng said.

He said the presence of parents will help a lot in fighting nyaope in the community.

Amid the icy grip of winter, the church is in need of blankets, warm clothes and groceries to donate and cook for the addicts.

Monaheng also said they are trying to get some addicts back in school to complete their studies and to also equip them with knowledge and skills.

“The premier has started a programme of taking addicts to rehab. I believe wherever he is, he won’t hesitate to take addicts with knowledge and skills to rehab as they would contribute greatly to our economy once rehabilitated,” Monaheng said.

He asked those who would like to contribute to call him on 064 008 6395 or call the founder of the church, Bishop Cynthia ‘Masithulele’ Mokoena, on 060 720 0537.
