EMPD members take road safety awareness to early learning centres in Tsakani

EMPD shared basic information about road safety, to improve the behavior of children when making use of the roadway.

Tsakani – Members of the EMPD Social Crime Prevention Unit (SCPU) took their road safety awareness campaign to Kgotso Day Care Centre recently.

This is part of an ongoing road safety awareness campaign aimed at educating children in day care centres throughout the City of Ekurhuleni.

EMPD spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Kelebogile Thepa said the campaign has led to a significant improvement in the number of pedestrian motor vehicle accidents involving children.

“Members engaged the staff and children of Kgotso Day Care Centre in Tsakane Extension 12 about road safety.

“Our members also gave them basic information about road safety, to improve the behaviour of children when making use of the roadway,” she said.

Thepa added that they are encouraging residents to make sure children play at designated parks with appropriate supervision, away from busy roadways.
