Coach encourages parents to support children in sports

Mayoyo said the progress reports would encourage parents to keep their children in the team and highlight areas that need improvement.

Kwa-Thema – Ace Auto Ayoba Football Academy gave football progress reports to the parents of U11 players in the academy on Sunday.

These reports tracked the players’ half-yearly progress and were part of their player development yardsticks to gauge their progress and growth.

Ace Auto Ayoba coach Innocent Mayoyo said the progress reports would encourage parents to keep their children in the team.

“By doing this, we want parents to see how their children are doing, their improvement and areas that need further attention. This will make it easy for the players to keep up with their performance and improve where they are lacking,” he said.

Mayoyo said that on July 9, they would hand out the evaluation reports for the U13, U15 and U17 players and continue with the goalkeeping training scheduled every Sunday at 11:00.

He advised parents to accompany their children for moral support, which would help the players’ performance. Parent Dumisani Dladla said the programme was a good initiative that helps track development and progress.

“This shows us as parents that our children are on the right path, and we can track their performance because of the reports.

“Even though this was for the players, the coach ensured to involve the parents in the children’s development, which is a good thing to do,” he said.

Dladla said he was satisfied with his son’s development as a U11 player.
