CGA holds fourth leg of league in Daveyton

“As an athlete, you should practice every chance you get so that you can achieve the goal that you have set for yourself.”

Kwatsaduza – Pule Tjaoana of Waterfall Athletics Club ran the fourth leg of the 2023 Cross Country League hosted by Central Gauteng Athletics and East Athletics Club on Saturday in Daveyton.

He finished the 10km race in 27 minutes and 47 seconds and placed first in the Veteran Men 40-45 category.

Pule said he invested a lot of time in training to prepare for this league.

“As an athlete, you should practice every chance you get so that you can achieve the goal that you have set for yourself.

“This is not only about me but serves as motivation for the development team that I am coaching. I want to qualify so that they can run the leagues with me,” said Pule.

He added that in the next coming weeks, he will be practising twice as hard as he will be preparing for the Gauteng and SA championships coming later this year.

Pule highlighted that his target for the Gauteng championships is 24 minutes, and if he achieves it the SAs will be like a walk in the park for him.

Over 1 000 athletes and runners participated in the event from as young as eight years to as old as 75 years.

With only two league events remaining for the 2023 cross country season, the majority of athletes will be focusing on the 2023 CGA Championships taking place on August 19.

Athletes will compete for the top four spots so that they can be chosen for the provincial team that will be competing in the National Championships taking place in September.
