Ekurhuleni mayor launches ‘People’s Government At Work – Masisebenzeni’

As part of the initiative, Ngodwana will visit a different community every second Friday accompanied by officials of the departments most challenged in those societies.

Kwatsaduza – The mayor of Ekurhuleni, Sivuyile Ngodwana, launched the mayoral outreach programme ‘People’s Government At Work – Masisebenzeni’ in Katlegong on Friday.

As part of the initiative, Ngodwana will visit a different community every second Friday accompanied by officials of the departments most challenged in those societies.

“We need to see for ourselves as the executive how our people navigate daily life. We seek to find solutions with urgency, so we are bringing the head of departments to account on the spot,” he said.

The mayor and his delegates visited a water reservoir under construction that should be complete in a year from now and the treatment of dolomitic ground which took down five houses in Katlehong 1. This project is still in its infancy.

Ngodwana also participated in pothole repairs in the Nhlapho section.

As Youth Month nears its end, the Ekurhuleni government handed some title deeds to young people and urged the new homeowners to treat their homes as an investment and reminded them that it was illegal to sell an RDP house within eight years of receiving it.

“Before the end of this year, I will return to Katlehong to get reports on progress and actions made toward commitments undertaken on Friday,” Ngodwana assured the residents.
