Applicants concerned about their private information after submitting applications for the Nasi Ispani programme

Nasi Ispani is a recruitment drive aimed at addressing unemployment unemployment.

Kwatsaduza – Unemployed hopefuls who flocked to over 22 drop-off centres are concerned about the safety of the personal details contained in the CVs they submitted for the Nasi Ispani job vacancies on Friday.

This is after videos and images surfaced on social media showing what is believed to be officials, working on the project, dumping piles of CVs, which were submitted by the applicants.

This infuriated the applicants who believe that the selection process is not fair. Nasi Ispani is on a recruitment drive aimed at addressing unemployment and promoting access to job opportunities available within the provincial government.

Applicant Thabo Moeketsi told African Reporter after hearing that some of the applications were dumped, he fears his details might land in the wrong hands.

“We trusted the officials with our personal information. I now doubt the fairness of the process. The youth of this country are desperate and are pinning their hopes on this programme.”

Another applicant, Dudu Mazibuko, said if the process is flawed it will kill the morale of young people.

“A lot of young people in the area are unemployed and desperate, as seen in the long queues we witnessed on Friday.

“People slept at the drop-off centres risking their safety. It would not be fair for them to jump the queue because they know the officials,” she added.

Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi said the videos and images seek to discredit the programme.

“The source of the videos and images circulating on social media is being investigated by the office of the premier to determine their origin and action will be taken. Applicants who submitted their applications physically are assured that their information was captured.

“If their CVs cannot be found, we will contact them and ask them to resubmit before the closing date on July 14,” added Lesufi.
