New chairpersons of Section 79 committees sworn in

The swearing in ceremony was done in accordance with Rule 11 (1), (2) and (3) of the City of Ekurhuleni Standing Orders By-Law.

Kwatsaduza – Four new chairpersons of Section 79 committees and a ward councillor were officially sworn in by the speaker of Ekurhuleni council, Nthabiseng Tshivhenga.

Clr Danie Putter was sworn in as Ward 25 councillor following the ward by-election on May 24.

The following councillors were also sworn in as chairpersons of Section 79 committees after being elected during the ordinary council meeting, which took place on May 25.

• Clr Nkgopotse Mekgwe was sworn in as the chairperson of the Water, Sanitation and Energy Committee.

• Clr Lethabo Rachidi was sworn in as the chairperson of the Community Safety Committee.

• Clr Kehla Madlala was sworn in as the chairperson of the City Planning Committee.

• Clr Jeremia Maraba was sworn in as the chairperson of the Transport Planning, Roads and Storm Water Committee.

The swearing-in ceremony was done in accordance with Rule 11 (1) , (2) and (3) of the City of Ekurhuleni Standing Orders By-Law.

These rules make provision for councillors to swear or affirm their faithfulness and obedience to the republic, the Constitution and council before the magistrate in a council meeting, or at any time by arrangement before the speaker in the speaker’s office.
