Local SAPS are investigating a double murder case after the bodies of two men were found near Lukas Steyn Street in Withok Estates.
According to Brakpan police communications officer Constable Audrey Buthelezi, the EMPD notified SAPS about the bodies on Monday afternoon.
“According to a witness, he discovered the bodies last Friday when he was seeking shelter from the rain,” she said.

“The male alleges that he made efforts to phone the police but was unsuccessful. On Monday, he saw an EMPD vehicle and stopped it.”
Buthelezi told the Brakpan Herald the bodies were found inside a dilapidated container.
“It was discovered that both deceased males had gunshot wounds, and four empty cartridges were found on the scene,” she said.

“One of the deceased males had a backpack containing tools used for cable theft and the area is a current hotspot for cable theft.”
In addition, an inquest docket was opened after a burnt body was discovered about a kilometre from the crime scene.
It is not known if the cases are linked. At the time of publication, the bodies had not yet been identified.
