The wait is finally over for Kwa-Thema residents

After over two weeks of darkness in Kwa-Thema, the residents are to get power back.

Kwa-Thema – The community of Kwa-Thema will start receiving electricity from Friday night.

The information came after MMC for Water, Sanitation and Energy Clr Leshaka Manamela met with residents on Friday at the Kwa-Thema main substation which caught fire over two weeks ago.

Manamela had come to update and brief the residents on progress made since Tuesday when he met the community following unrest.

“Since Tuesday, we have added two more TLBs to the one we had and now have three on-site.

“We also increased working hours, therefore, the workers now work nightshifts as well,” he said.

He added that the metro is still on course and committed that all areas will have power by Monday.

Manamela said that although he doesn’t properly know the areas of Kwa-Thema by name, he can confirm some areas will receive power on Friday night and other areas will receive daily until Monday when all areas will be fully connected.
