EMPD teaches learners about social ills

Members of the EMPD spoke to learners about road safety awareness, bullying, substance abuse and other social ills.

Kwatsaduza – As part of their outreach programmes, members of the EMPD Social Crime Prevention Unit visited Nqubela Primary School in Daveyton, Sibonisiwe Primary School in Duduza and Tsakane Primary School in Tsakane last week.

They spoke to the learners about road safety awareness, bullying, substance abuse and other social ills.

EMPD spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Kelebogile Thepa said they saw a need to caution learners about the detrimental effects of substance abuse.

“A stern focus was put on learning through play because interactive activities like dancing aided the engagement,” she explained.

As part of the initiative, the officers will continue to engage the public on domestic violence, child trafficking, child neglect and abuse and gender-based violence.

The EMPD commended the partnership with other stakeholders in combating social ills in communities throughout the CoE.
