Soccer fans spend their morning giving back before the derby

Kaizer Chiefs is a club of love and peace

Kwa-Thema – Kaizer Chiefs Kwa-Thema branch and Plus Butchery Duduza rank visited Bathandeni Day Care Centre for the disabled in Barcelona on Saturday to spend the morning with the children at the centre before heading to the FNB Stadium for the derby.

The club’s Kwa-Thema chairperson, Zakhele Mndebele, said, “It was a great honour for us to help the needy and spend our morning with them. As Kaizer Chiefs, we mean it when we say ‘love and peace’, we are a family.”

Some of the children at the centre stay there full time. The two organisations donated food, clothes, a bed and a blanket.

Daycare’s founder Masechaba Flora Kgomare said, “This came at a good time for us as we had recently moved to a new place. Things are currently difficult for us, so we are grateful for the gesture.”
