Long distance runner Minenhle excels in schools competitions

The young athlete also shows talent in other sporting codes

Langaville – Minenhle Kgaphola recently collected accolades when she represented her running club in D14 competitions.

She received four gold and two silver medals, two trophies and two certificates.

The 10-year-old athlete from Duduza started doing sports at the age of five at local fun run events.

Over the years, she participated in the cross-league, and track and field under Langaville Health and Fitness Academy (LAFHA).

Sakhi Kgaphola, founder and the chairperson of LAFHA is also Minenhle’s grandfather and coach said, “From a young age, Minenhle started showing interest in running and the sport.

“I used to take her to local sporting events, where she would excel when she participated in short distances.

“As the sports coordinator, I am proud of her for achieving so much at her young age”.

Under his guidance, Minenhle competed in the Jcentral School Sport D14 for 2022/23 and won several awards.

He said she has always been an active child and now they are looking into enrolling her in different sporting codes.

“Lately she has been telling me she wants to join gymnastics. I can see the potential because she is a very energetic child,” he said.
