Five suspects arrested for dealing in drugs

The EMPD officers have waged a war against drugs.

Tsakani – Four men and a woman were arrested for possession of and dealing in illicit substances by the EMPD on March 29.

This was part of an ongoing operation aimed at rooting out drug dealers in the CoE.

The EMPD members cornered a 31-year-old man on Robert Sebuku Street and found him in possession of 43 packets of nyaope with an estimated value of R1 700.

He was also found with R185 in cash, suspected to be the proceeds of crime.

EMPD spokesperson Chief Superintendent Kelebogile Thepa said on Hlakwane Street, the members cornered a 33-year-old man and a 26-year-old female in possession of 23 ziplock bags of cat and one of crystal meth.

“The estimated value of the drugs is R1 000.”

At the Tsakane informal settlement in Ext 10 on Xaba Street, members cornered a 37-year-old man in possession of five newspaper bundles of dagga and one ziplock bag of crystal meth.

“The drugs are estimated at a value of R250,” she said.

Meanwhile, on Maluleke Street in Ext 9, the members cornered a 42-year-old man in possession of 10 and a half Mandrax tablets, with an estimated value of R500.

Thepa added that the five suspects were detained at the Tsakane Police Station.

“They were charged with possession of and dealing in illegal drugs and will soon appear before the Tsakane Magistrate’s court,” she added.
