Tsakani pensioner lives in fear of rapist’s return

The rapist was armed with a screwdriver.

A 63-year-old pensioner is living in hiding after being repeatedly raped by her neighbour recently.

She has been in hiding after receiving a series of death threats from the perpetrator.

The pensioner told African Reporter that she was sleeping when she heard her door being forced open. Soon afterwards, she saw the man walk into her bedroom armed with a screwdriver.

“He told me he would only have five rounds of sex with me and would leave as soon as he was done. He ordered me to cooperate with him, or he would harm me.

“I negotiated with him to use protection because I am HIV positive and taking treatment, but he told me that is not a problem as he is also on treatment.

“He repeatedly raped me. After the third time, I asked him to fetch a towel from the next room and used the opportunity to run for safety,” she said.

Tsakani police station commander Colonel Goodall Khumbulani Mbatha confirmed that they are investigating a case of rape.

A suspect has been arrested and will soon appear in the Tsakani Magistrate’s Court.
