Kwa-Thema Striders tackle Kosmos 3-in-1 marathon

Sixteen runners from Kwa-Thema Striders to compete in the Two Oceans Marathon.

KwaThema Striders participated in the Kosmos 3-in-1 ultra-marathon at Lake Umuzi in Secunda on Saturday.

The ultra-marathon was broken into three runs, the 42.2km which started at 06:00, followed by the 21.1km from 13:00 and the 10km at 17:00.

Club chairperson Sipho Skhosana said 28 members participated in the marathon.

“We are happy that the majority of our runners finished the race within 04:30. This is an indication that our runners are emotionally and physically ready to tackle the Two Oceans Marathon and Comrades Marathon,” he said.

He added that they were also introducing some of their new runners to the long-distance marathons to evaluate their capabilities.

Skhosana added that 16 members have qualified to participate in the upcoming Two Oceans Marathon which is set to take place on April 16, and 28 have registered for the upcoming Comrades Marathon set for June 11.
