Duduza and Tsakani karatekas excel in Soweto

Only two didn't win their matches

Duduza – The Ikok Sonoda Full Contact Karate Organisation competed in the Sonoda Full Contact Weight Categories Karate Tournament, held at the Orlando Communal Hall in Soweto, on Saturday.

Students from Tsakani and Duduza dominated the tournament in different divisions where they were fighting.

Bheki Radebe, founder and instructor of Duduza Ikok Sonoda dojo said, “Among 21 fighters at the tournament, only two fought well but couldn’t win trophies. As an instructor, I’m proud of how they fought.”

Radebe said all four fighters from the Tsakani dojo came in the top three positions.

“The competition was tough, considering it was a national contest with fighters from other provinces,” he said.

Radebe said he is grateful for the support he gets from parents of the students from his dojo since its inception two years ago.

He said because of that support, the dojo keeps growing. He is grateful to the library management for adopting sports and art as the library’s extramural activity.

“I also appreciate the overwhelming support from the business community of Duduza who sponsored the transportation of our children to Soweto. This shows they see the need to invest in the future supporters of their business,” Radebe said.

Anyone who wants to join the dojo in Duduza can visit the library for details. The classes are on Mondays from 17:00 to 18:00.
