Kwa-Thema’s Nthati is pushing boundaries

Nthati Sibasabasa urges young people to chase their dreams.

Kwa-Thema – Nthati Sibasaba is reaching for the stars and striving to be one of the country’s top entertainers.

The 19-year-old mover and shaker is an actor, motivational speaker, influencer and event organiser hosting mainstream artists.

The second-year psychology student decided to pursue an acting career in 2017 by performing in school plays and later joining the theatre.

This saw her career grow, and she soon performed on all the stages at the Joburg Theatre Complex, including the Lesedi Theatre, the Fringe Theatre, Space.com and the Nelson Mandela Theatre.

She said this is a big deal for young artists still trying to find their way in the industry.

“This opportunity allowed me to be one of the 400 girls on the continent selected to participate in an initiative called She Leads Africa.

“We were expected to share some of the challenges we faced as we pursued our careers and how we overcame them.

“I shared about the bullying, red tape and stumbling blocks I faced in the industry.

“I was bullied and told that I am not skinny, fat or beautiful enough for certain roles and as a teenager, this affected my self-esteem,” she explained.

The young actor encourages her peers to keep pushing and not allow anyone to classify them according to their standards.
