Tsakani – A hijacked white Toyota Land Cruiser SUV was recovered on Mosaka Street by the EMPD Tsakani precinct officers in conjunction with the SAPS Tracing Unit on Monday morning.
This came after the Tracing Unit received a tip-off that the hijacked vehicle was spotted in the area.
The EMPD media liaison officer, Lerato Monyane, said the SUV was allegedly hijacked in Delmas on March 5.
A case docket was opened and investigated at Benoni Police Station.
“When questioned, the owner of the house alleged that the known suspect parked the vehicle and left.
“Attempts to call the suspect failed because his cellphone was switched off,” he said.
Monyane said the car was taken to SAPS Van Rhyn Deep for safekeeping. Investigations are ongoing, and arrests are imminent.
