Church offers a helping hand to senior citizens in Kwa-Thema

Church donated to elders and other families

Kwa-Thema – Restoration Evangelical Ministry (REM) had a donation drive on Sunday at the church at Monareng in Kwa-Thema.

This was after the church noticed that there are needy people when they had an open-air event on January 28 at Sam Ngema Street.

Apostle Thulie Hlengisa said there are pensioners whose children take their pension money, which leads to them not being able to afford groceries and other necessities. The church saw it fit to look for sponsors so they can donate.

Hlengisa also said there are poor families who sometimes go to bed hungry and the donations would help.

“We want people to know that God provides. When we go feed people spiritually, we should also be able to feed them physically,” said Hlengisa.

Hlengisa said they wish to donate monthly, however, they don’t have enough sponsors.

“We were helped by pastors, a crèche and a well-known supermarket. They gave us what we were able to donate now,” said Hlengisa.

Hlengisa said they also donated clothes to Ward 77 Clr Thulane Dunjana to give to a family whose shack burnt down in October.
