Killer wants to apologise to victim’s family

Hector Thabang Masuku is pleading with the Springs magistrate to hand him a minimum sentence.

Kwa-Thema – The murder case of Sinenhlanhla Zwane was postponed to March 24 for sentencing by the Springs Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday.

Nineteen-year-old Zwane was shot and killed by Hector Thabang Masuku in full view of his friends on November 7.

It is alleged that before he died, he demanded R30 that Masuku owed to him. Masuku is an alleged drug dealer.

He pleaded guilty and confessed to killing Zwane.

During closing arguments, the defence stated Masuku wished to apologise to Sinenhlanhla’s family.

His legal representative is fighting for a minimal sentence arguing that Masuku is remorseful and has not wasted the court’s time.

The court also heard that Masuku is ill and on chronic medication.

Meanwhile, Zwane’s lawyer argued that the only reason Masuku pleaded guilty was that all the evidence was pointing to him.
