Man arrested for wife’s murder

The suspect is due in court soon.

Tsakani – A 53-year-old man was arrested for the murder of his wife, Tinny Nkgudi (51), in their home in Ext Six in the early hours of Sunday.

It is alleged the suspect assaulted Nkgudi with a panga and a spade, breaking her arms and some teeth.

He is also alleged to have assaulted his seven-year-old grandson before forcing him inside a wardrobe and threatening to kill him if he screamed.

The deceased’s 25-year-old daughter, Carol Modjadji, said when she arrived home about 06:00 she grew worried when her mother and son didn’t respond when she called out their names.

“I tried calling my mother’s phone but it was off. A neighbour offered to help break the padlock.
“My son jumped out of the wardrobe crying and petrified and narrated what had happened.

“We found her body in the bathroom with multiple injuries to her head and body.

Tsakani police spokesperson Sergeant Lerato Mngomezulu confirmed that the suspect was arrested after being on the run for two days.

“He was found with the deceased’s cellphone and voluntarily pointed out the clothes stashed under the bed as those he wore during the commission of the crime. The suspect will appear before the Tsakani Magistrates Court soon,” she said.
