The Institute of Mathematics (SA) has launched a new programme called Project Bokamoso to provide Grade Eight and Nine learners with mathematics intervention classes at the beginning of their high school journey.

The programme aims to prepare learners in earlier grades for their matric year and to improve the overall mathematics pass mark in matric, having learners achieve a minimum of 50% in mathematics.

A total of 120 Kwatsaduza youth have been trained and will be placed in schools from March 6 as tutors to provide the necessary mathematics support for Grade Eight and Grade Nine learners.

“We are hoping to convert schools to 100% maths schools as maths teaches a lot of skills and opens opportunities in universities.

“Many varsity courses lately require maths,” said Ntsane Masiloane, Institute of Mathematics (SA) CEO.

The Institute of Mathematics (SA) is inviting all interested parents and learners to an orientation session on January 28 at Bahamas in Kwa-Thema from 09:00 to 11:00.
