Men speak out against abuse

Policemen is Tsakani encourage victims of abuse to reach out to the police for help.

Tsakani – The Men Club took a stand in addressing gender-based violence as part of the 16 Days of Activism For No Violence Against Women and Children.

The initiative was held in Zamani and Powa sections on Sunday.

Tsakani police spokesperson Sergeant Lerato Mngomezulu said the initiative was to address the issues of gender-based violence under the theme ‘Speak up, no to GBVF’.

“Residents were educated about the importance of reporting abuse happening behind closed doors and committed by family members.

“Every person living in South Africa is protected under constitutional rights and it is everyone’s responsibility to save the lives of the victims of GBVF whether men, women or children living in it.

“ It is everyone’s responsibility to report abuse,” she added.
