Three arrested for stock theft

Three men have been arrested for livestock theft in Duduza.

Duduza – Three men were arrested and charged with stock theft at Spaarwater farms, on the outskirts of Duduza, on Monday.

It is alleged that on Sunday the trio overpowered a shepherd who was looking after the cattle. They tied his hands and legs and threw him into the Spaarwater dam.

Duduza police spokesperson Sergeant Harry Manaka explained the men rounded up about 29 cattle and guided them towards the main road.

“The shepherd who managed to free himself swam to safety and reported the incident to the owners. A manhunt for the three suspects unfolded,” he explained.

They were later arrested for possession of the animals.

Manaka added that the suspects are expected to appear in the Nigel Magistrate’s Court soon on charges of stock theft and robbery.
