SADAG launches a free face-to-face support group

The group will meet every second Saturday of the month a 13:00 at 9 Park Street, Bedfordview.

The South African Depression and Anxiety Group (SADAG) has set up a free face-to-face support group to help manage and navigate life while living with depression and anxiety.

The group will launch on November 5 at 13:00. Thereafter, the group will meet every second Saturday of the month a 13:00 at 9 Park Street, Bedfordview.

Support group leader Alexia shares why she started her support group.

“The group is a means of giving back to my community. I know what it’s like to feel alone and to yearn for support, and this support group allows me to provide a safe space for individuals to come together and receive the support that is desperately needed in these times.

“The purpose of this support group is to provide a safe, non-judgmental space to individuals who suffer from anxiety and depression.

“It will further allow individuals to express their feelings, meet new people, and learn new things.

“The benefit of joining this support group is that support groups create a sense of community, you are able to express yourself and feel heard.

“You will be able to meet new, like-minded people, hear about new perspectives, let your guard down, and learn new things along the way.”

If you are someone living with depression and anxiety or know someone who does, contact Alexia on 083 600 2843 to find out more about her support group and to join.
