Legendary pop musician celebrated by local fans

Local fans celebrated legendary musician Joe Nina after winning a SAMA.

Kwa-Thema – Award-winning musician Joe Nina received a royal welcome on Sunday night after being awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award from SAMA (South African Music Awards) a week ago.
The award recognises legendary musicians who contributed to the development, upliftment and advancement of the South African music industry for over two decades.
On Sunday evening, his fans gathered at the Ekasi Pub in Kwa-Thema to celebrate the milestone.
The musician took his fans down memory lane by performing some of his hits from the 90s which include Ding Dong and Sgubhu by the Nina Brothers.
He performed with a live band, made up of artists from the Iconeast Development Academy, which is run by the musician.

The 48-old musician expressed his gratitude saying he is humbled by the support and love that he continues to receive from Kwa-Thema.
“It is heart-warming to see that people still appreciate my music and came in numbers to celebrate this achievement.
“I will forever be grateful for this,” he added.
The pop musician broke into the music industry in 1990 under the name T McCool and later switched to Joe Nina and released his second album Ding Dong which still occupies music playlists.
He is currently developing and nurturing young musicians from Ekurhuleni.
