Kwa-Thema – The Barcelona Youth Community organisation spent 67 minutes giving back to the eldest members of the community.
They visited five pensioners as part of their Nelson Mandela community outreach programme in the area.
The group was formed by chairperson Sabelo ‘Mboza’ Saneho, secretary Samkelo ‘Kofoko’ Ndumo, treasurer Nomfundo Masina and head of finance Njabulo Sibeko.
They cleaned for selected pensioners and donated food parcels.
One pensioner Robert Ndimande (67) expressed his gratitude to the organisation.
“May they continue to do great for others as well,” he said.

Sibeko said their focus is on elders who live alone and are dependent on a social grant.
“We choose our elders as some of them are pensioners, some have no one to look after them and others are frail with poor health conditions.
“One of our members, Masina, has also volunteered to bathe one Gogo who has been struggling.
“With the initiative, we want to show the community that as young people we are active and want to make a difference within the community,” she explained.
They partnered with a local business, Motheo Construction, resident Bongani Maphumulo as well as Ward 80 Clr Celiwe Nkosi Ramothibe.
