Crime prevention officers in Rabie Ridge were conducting a vehicle checkpoint on Dane Road on June 7 when they came across a silver Polo with two individuals inside.
The driver and his passenger were both searched, and the passenger was found in possession of an unlicensed revolver.
The passenger was arrested and taken to Rabie Ridge Police Station for detention.
According to Sergeant Dipolelo Moremi, while the arresting officer was still detaining the suspect, another man approached him and tried to offer him R1 000 in cash to release the man.
The second man was arrested for bribery.
“Criminals must know there are determined personnel of the SAPS who are committed to fighting crime with honesty and zero tolerance for criminals,” said Moremi.
