Four nabbed after a police chase

One of the suspects was injured during a shoot-out with police.

Tsakani – Four suspects were arrested on the corner of Modjadji and Zulu streets in Tsakani, on Wednesday, for attempted murder and possession of stolen goods.

The arrest came as the Tsakani SAPS Crime Prevention Unit, Public Order Policing and a security company were investigating an armed robbery that occurred in Kwa-Thema earlier that day.
Tsakani police spokesperson Sgt Lerato Mngomezulu said a cellphone stolen during the robbery had a tracker which led the police to the suspects.

“While police were following the coordinates, the victim spotted the vehicle used during the robbery.
“Police gave chase and the SAPS vehicle collided with the one of the suspects. The suspects attempted to flee,” said Mngomezulu.
The suspects started firing shots at the police, who returned fire. One suspect was injured during the shoot-out.
Police managed to apprehend four suspects, including the injured one, while a fifth suspect is still at large.
Two of the arrested suspects are aged 25, while the others are 19 and 27.
The Suzuki in which the suspects were travelling was reported stolen in Daveyton earlier this month.
