Nokuphila launches new programme for the youth

Programme aims to change lives.

On April 22, Nokuphila Community Care Centre launched the Nokuphila Early Skills Training (NEST) programme that will start educating the youth who are passionate about children.
Chairperson of the centre, Dumani Sibeko, said this will be a programme that will change the lives of unemployed youths.

Founder of NESTA Sandile Shabangu and Dumani Sibeko are excited about their new venture.

“We are setting up a training centre since we have all the facilities and the teachers who will be training the practitioners,” said Sibeko.
He emphasised that most teachers in early childhood development are not all fully trained to become practitioners or properly qualified.
“We want to assist them to be fully qualified. They will be coming for theoretical training in our buildings. We have all the facilitators, assessors and information technology people who will be setting up the whole programme,” said Sibeko.

He told the Advertiser that Nokuphila has always been community sensitive. Its purpose is to upgrade and fill gaps in the community.
“We wanted to go for area development, particularly for the youth. Our youth in this country do not have skills and some do not have funds. We are here to provide less costs for them to study and also provide bursaries,” he said.
The programme takes about 18 months and includes theoretical and practical studies.
Founder of NESTA Sandile Shabangu said he is proud of the new project that will impact young lives in the future.
“I am very excited to see that this will change a lot of lives. Many of the youth in this country are jobless and that can damage a person. I am for the youth and hopefully, this will help where it can,” he said.
