Brand showcases African diversity

“As I was doing research on how I wanted the brand to be, I discovered a huge gap between our African roots and modern age fashion.”

Kwa-Thema – Twenty-two-year-old Mpumelelo Advocate Mnisi’s new apparel brand, Culture, showcases the continent’s diversity.
The brand was established in June 2020 as an online store that focused on selling strictly local brands.
Mnisi said getting local brands that aligned with his vision was a challenge.
“So I started an in-house brand which we would call culture that will set a path for other brands to align with the cultural store vision.
“As I was researching how I wanted the brand to be, I discovered a huge gap between our African roots and modern age fashion.
“That drove me to infuse the two different worlds together and create a brand that is current with the times and will forever remind us of where we come from through our African roots,” he elaborated.

Mnisi is completing his bachelor of commerce in business management degree at the University of South Africa.
He emphasised the brand is for the youth as it is defined by the diversity and the limitlessness of the African heritage.
Mnisi said Culture as a brand is not limited to what the industry offers, but he believes in providing quality products that will last a lifetime.
“The brand is still new; however, we have opened one flagship store at the corner of Kgaswane and Morudi streets in White City, KwaThema, and are building our customer base and partnering with organisations such as Homegrown Wholesales, two newly developed online stores and Mnazi Wear.
“My goal is to grow the brand to be one of the favourite brands in Kwatsaduza.
“Because of its unique style, I believe it will attract people,” said Mnisi.
