Firearms flung out of car during police chase

“Objects were flung out of the moving vehicle and police were forced to stop and investigate.”

Kwa-Thema – Two firearms were booked in for ballistic testing after they were flung out of a car by occupants being pursued by the police on Saturday morning.
The Dunnotor SAPS Crime Prevention Unit was on its regular patrol along Nigel Road (south bound) when it noticed a white Nissan Sentra without registration plates.
The officers followed the vehicle and shortly after they turned on their blue lights to signal to the occupants to pull over. The vehicle sped off and police gave chase.

Kwa-Thema police spokesperson Const Nkululeko Magudulela said the officers saw an occupant of the Sentra pointing a firearm in their direction and shots were fired towards the speeding vehicle.
“Objects were flung out of the moving vehicle and police were forced to stop and investigate.
“Two 9mm pistols were found but the vehicle occupants evaded capture and are on the run,” he explained.
The two firearms were seized and booked in for safekeeping to be sent for ballistic testing to determine whether the firearms can be linked to any other crimes.
