Domestic violence cases on the rise in Tsakani

Tsakani SAPS station commander Col Goodall Khumbulani Mbatha is appealing to the community to not resort to fighting but to resolve problems peacefully.

Tsakani – Tsakani police are concerned about the high volume of domestic violence cases they are receiving weekly.

In a statement released by the station’s spokesperson, Sgt Lerato Mngomezulu, the increase in these cases is alarming.

“Domestic violence crimes are those which involve people who are related to each other or are known to each other.

“These may be people staying together or familiar with each other. It can be a couple, siblings, children or parents,” she added.

Tsakani SAPS station commander Col Goodall Khumbulani Mbatha is appealing to the community to not resort to fighting but to resolve problems peacefully.

“There are processes of mediation that people can opt for, such as social services, spiritual services or the judiciary where parents can co-parent and opt for maintenance (support of children or the spouse). Help is available, ” he explained.
