Waste backlog in Tsakani

Tsakani – Residents have been sitting with uncollected waste in recent weeks with no communication from the municipality.
Resident Maria Masango said it is concerning to see the streets of Tsakani littered with trash from the overflowing uncollected refuse bins.

“We don’t know who to talk to because even our ward councillors tell us the waste will be collected soon.
“We roll out the wheelie bins every morning with the hope that they will be collected, but this is not the case.
“We can’t live like this. We fear for the children’s health,” she added.
The City of Ekurhuleni stated it is aware of the waste removal backlog in Tsakani and its department of waste management services will conduct waste removal services to clear the collection backlog.
All affected customers are urged to take out their 240l wheelie bins as early as possible for ease of collection.
