Matric learners who failed are encouraged to rewrite

Dlabathi congratulated the Class of 2021 for its hard work and making it through even when there were obstacles.

Kwatsaduza – ANC chief whip in the City of Ekurhuleni Clr Jongizizwe Dlabathi is calling on Grade 12 learners who failed to apply for the Second Chance Programme that is provided by the Department of Basic Education to rewrite their exams.
He stated it is not over for these matriculants as they can either rewrite the exams or consider technical and vocational education and training (TVET) colleges for further training and development.
Dlabathi congratulated the Class of 2021 for its hard work and making it through even when there were obstacles.
“When the government declared a national state of disaster two years ago, teachers and learners had to adapt to a new normal and find creative ways to ensure proper teaching and learning continues unhindered.

“The situation did not deter these learners. They propelled with determination and dedication in ensuring they continue with their studies.
“We are encouraged by the vigour and determination that these learners displayed throughout the year,” he said.
Dlabathi encouraged all councillors to continue with the adopt-a-school campaign.
“The campaign has yielded remarkable results over the years.
“Our focus is clear. We adopt a school to assist it in improving its matric results, revive the school’s sports programmes and infrastructural support, and further mobilise various stakeholders to play their part in assisting our schools,” he said.
He added that he is proud because the programme has managed to help Tlakula High School improve its matric result from 57% in 2016 to 83.2% in 2021, and subsequently, topped all schools in Kwa-Thema.
