New roles for promoted officers

“They must go out there and serve with pride, diligence, and zeal. Members must not take this for granted and do their job,” she said.

Ekurhuleni SAPS Maj-Gen Anna Sithole recently acknowledged and celebrated local officers who have been promoted in the district.
The 44 promoted officers, which includes eight colonels, 10 lieutenants and 10 captains, were very happy to take on their new roles.

Officers at Springs SAPS are excited for their new journey after being promoted to new ranks.

“We are here to acknowledge and to wish them well in their new posts. On the same note, as a district commander I want to give them marching orders because normally when people get promoted, they tend to relax. As they take up their new posts, they must be committed and commit to the community,” said Sithole.
“They must go out there and serve with pride, diligence, and zeal. Members must not take this for granted and do their job,” she said.

She is proud to announce that 90% of the officers are from the district. One officer is from Kwa-Zulu-Natal.
“I am also proud that they have met the requirements to qualify and earn their ranks. I now expect them to go to their new environment and take charge of their station. I want them to command and control.
“It is pointless to have a station commander that cannot control because automatically there will be a problem with service delivery in those police stations.

“With the experience that they have, I expect them to go and practice, take charge and make sure that the station operation is smooth sailing. As leaders, they have to be innovative and proactive. They must go and build partnerships with the communities for them to solve whatever criminal activities are taking place,” she said.
