Resident donates equipment to boost team’s morale

The philanthropist said he is always looking for a way to make a difference in his community.

Kwa-Thema – David Makopo donated much-needed training equipment to Kwa-Thema United FC’s u-11 team on Thursday.
The philanthropist said he is always looking for a way to make a difference in his community.
“I adopted the team because I could see how they are keeping these young boys busy.
“Most of them don’t come from homes where they can afford to buy equipment for extramural activities,” he said.
Makopo believes the community should encourage and support young talent.

“We also grew up playing soccer. And there were fees paid for us to take part in competitions, but we never paid them.
“There were people who committed themselves to assist our teams.
“We just have to show up and have fun without the burden of finding money to pay for all of it.
“Now that we are older, it is now our turn to help the young ones,” he added.
Makopo donated soccer balls, cones and bibs.
Tshepo Mashabela, the team’s coach, said he was grateful for the contribution.
“Every little we get goes a long way,” he said.
He added that the team still needs socks and soccer boots and appealed to other members of the community to lend a helping hand.
