Church takes a stand against GBV

On the day, food parcels and blankets were distributed to disadvantaged families.

Duduza – Faith-based organisation Independent Order of True Templars (IOTT), under the leadership of Joseph Chaphole, held a prayer walk on Saturday against gender-based violence (GBV) and substance abuse.
Demonstrations started at the Duduza Police Station then proceeded to the Methodist Church.
On the day, food parcels and blankets were distributed to disadvantaged families.

Chairperson of the organisation Sibongile Chaphole said, “The initiative aimed to inform and raise awareness of gender-based violence and substance abuse.
“Going forward, we hope to see more people who need our services reach out to us for assistance.

“Also, without the support of our local leaders, community and other NPOs, we would not have been able to successfully host this campaign.
“Therefore, I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude for the amazing work they did.”
The organisation offers counselling and support services to victims of GBV, as well as drugs and alcohol addicts.
They are situated at Setshabelp Temple 20 at 8109 Ramathibela Street in Duduza.
