Get vaccinated before festive season – Solidarity Fund

Hot summer days, beaches, shisanyama Sundays, bush breaks, are all that summer and the December festive season is made of in South Africa.

In an effort to avoid a cancelled #KeDecember, the Solidarity Fund in partnership with the Department of Health is encouraging all South Africans to get vaccinated.

The Solidarity Fund notes that if people have at least had their first vaccine dose by October 20, South Africans can be fully immunised by December 16 when the country officially switches to ‘fun mode’.

This time period accounts for the 42-day period between vaccinations and the 14-day wait after each dose.

Speaking on behalf of the Solidarity Fund, Health Practice Advisor, Dr Saul Johnson says “Everyone wants to reconnect and reset this December, with the safety of our community remaining a top priority. By being fully immunized, we limit the risk of exposure and contraction, positively impacting the Covid-19 infection rate. This allows the economy and so many businesses who will not survive another lockdown, an opportunity to recover”.
