Kwa-Thema – Reagile Community Development donated masks to Theo Twala Primary School on Tuesday.
“We know the school serves an under privileged community. Some of the learners come from child-headed homes.
“Realising we may have to live with and adjust to Covid-19 regulations for a longer time, we thought this gift would greatly benefit the school,” explained Natasha Masike from the NPO.
Masike also believes some learners have missed school because they have no masks.

The school principal, Phumla Sehume, said the donation could not have come at a better time.
“I am so happy. This donation will resolve one of our biggest challenges.
“We do not have a budget for masks.
“So when a child comes to school without a mask, we can’t turn them back, we have to make a plan.
“Having these masks on hand will help us keep the children at school without worrying,” she added.

Sehume explained the no-fee school can do with any contribution from the public.
“Our statistics tell us a lot of our children are orphans. We need to assist them with everything. Food in their homes especially.
“Now that they don’t come to school daily, some of them don’t have proper meals at home.”

The organisation has noted the school’s other needs and hopes to continue to contribute to their success.
“Our next mission is to donate toiletry hampers.
“We appeal to the public to help us gather these goods for the children,” said Buhle Gama, also from Reagile Community Development.
