Law breakers arrested during roadblock

Kwa-Thema – Members of the Ekurhuleni East Zone 3 policing precinct recently took to Thema Road to target non-law-abiding citizens.
The operation was conducted by members from crime intelligence unit, EMPD and other stakeholders.
The roadblock was held with the focus on the transportation of illicit goods, which includes drugs and firearms.

Kwa-Thema police spokesperson Const Nkululeko Magudulela said hundreds of cars were stopped and searched and traffic fines valued at thousands of rand were issued.
“Two illegal shebeens were closed, with 238.40 litres of alcohol seized.
“Suspects were arrested for and charged with contravention of the Disaster Management Act,” he said.
All the arrested suspects will appear before the Springs Magistrate’s Court soon.
