On Wednesday Kwa-Thema police attended to a murder scene at the corner of Sam Ngema and Marule streets near Rest in Peace Cemetery.
According to Const Nkululeko Magudulela, communications officer at Kwa-Thema SAPS, preliminary investigations showed that the victim, Paledi John Lekgogola, was stabbed multiple times during a robbery.
“The next day police acted on information that the suspect was around Kwa-Thema Extention Three.
“The suspect was found at the given address and was pointed out by his father,” explained Magudulela.
The 23-year-old suspect was then questioned and searched.

His room was also searched.
“The officers found what is believed to be the murder weapon, a knife still covered in blood, as well as items of clothing, which were also stained with blood.
“The seized items have been sent for forensic analysis to link the suspect to the murder,” added Magudulela.
The suspect will appear in the Springs Magistrate’s Court once he has been charged for the murder.
Kwa-Thema SAPS station commander Col Mareketle Thobejane commended all who were responsible for the apprehension of the suspect and applauded the swift action by police.
