Leaders call for calm and tolerance in Kwatsaduza

“We will also be praying for all the people who are called to serve, such as doctors, nurses, police officers, soldiers, politicians and business people."

Kwa-Thema – The chief whip of Ekurhuleni Clr Jongizizwe Dlabathi called for calm and tolerance among Kwatsaduza residents.

Last week Thursday, Dlabathi invited different stakeholders to what was labelled as an urgent public meeting at Ndaba Tree.

He has since been meeting with local stakeholders and working with ward councillors to address the issues of violence and attacks on businesses.

Dlabathi said local economy issues remain a top priority, however, ensuring stability, normality and the resumption of business had to be addressed urgently.

“There are people who may want to justify the disruptions under the pretext of unemployment, poverty and service delivery among other things.

“Therefore, it is crucial for us to focus on the issue at hand. Once we begin to link the two issues we will make a justification for wrong activities to continue.

“We will have a dedicated engagement with our communities to deal with issues of the economy and service delivery,” he said.

Meanwhile, religious leaders of the Kwa-Thema Ministers Fellowship also appealed for peace. Past Siza Dhladhla of Christocentric Ministries said people are destroying the same stores and infrastructure they depend on daily.

“I believe there are other avenues we can explore to voice our dissatisfaction other than looting. This is not going to help us with anything but rather take us many steps back.

“Young people are now going to have criminal records because of this, damaging the reputations they have worked for over the years,” he said.

The ministers will be holding a daily noon prayer session for God to have mercy on the country and its people.

“We will also be praying for all the people who are called to serve, such as doctors, nurses, police officers, soldiers, politicians and business people,” he added.
