Police raise awareness after spate of taxi hijackings

Duduza – Members of the SAPS, Department of Community Safety and the Youth Crime Prevention Desk conducted an awareness campaign recently to highlight the increase of taxis being hijacked in Duduza and adjacent areas.
This follows a series of hijacking of local taxis in recent weeks.

Duduza police spokesperson Sgt Harry Manaka said the awareness campaign aimed to address the rising number of hijacking incidents involving local taxi operators.
The stakeholders engaged and sensitised local taxi drivers and passengers.
Taxi operators were urged to be vigilant, especially at sunset.
They were also warned to work with the police instead of evading police at checkpoints.
