Family demands their mother’s grave be dug up

When the Kunene family bought an expensive casket for their late mother, Francinah Kunene (62), little did they know this would lead to their mother's grave being tampered with on Monday.

Kwatsaduza – When the Kunene family bought an expensive casket for their late mother, Francinah Kunene (62), little did they know this would lead to their mother’s grave being tampered with on Monday.
Just two days after the deceased was buried, the grave that was previously covered with wreaths and flowers looked like an atomic bomb went off on top of it.
Some of the wreaths are buried under the heap of soil and the grave looks like it’s freshly dug.
After a day of fighting and demanding for the grave to be dug up, through an affidavit to the police they were allowed to.

Fortunately, the casket was found.
Angry family member Thuli Sukazi said they suspected their mother’s grave was dug up and the casket stolen.
“We could not turn a blind eye and pretend that everything was well when we could see the grave was tampered with.

This grave had to be dug up due to suspected tampering.

“The grave was nicely prepared by a hired company to close it and when we left after the burial everything was in order,” she explained.
An official from the metro working at the site confirmed the family was the last one to bury and there were no burials on Sunday.

Thuli added that if there were any burials after theirs, they would have turned a blind eye and believed the damage was caused by the other mourners.
Another family member, Alex Kunene, added the security guard told them the grave might have been damaged by the goats frequenting the site, but what about the other fresh graves, why were they spared?
“The wreaths don’t have a sign that they were roughly eaten by the animals and the number plate is buried under the soil,” he explained.
The family added they have heard stories of expensive caskets been stolen so they could not fold their hands and not act.
