Male employees at Pholosong Hospital attend health workshop

Tsakani – As part of men’s health month, male employees at Pholosong Hospital attended a workshop that addressed their health last Friday.
The annual initiative was organised by the Health and Wellness Programme under the theme of Total Wellness, Relationships and Men Who Protect.

This was aimed at promoting self-care, in particular health, relationships and mental health.
Pholosong’s spokesperson, Thabisile Mkhwanazi, said the majority of men neglect going for health screens.
“In most cases, littler can be done to reverse life-changing illnesses, such as hypertension, heart disease or prostate cancer, when detected at a later stage.
“Men were encouraged to engage in physical activity, eating correctly and going for regular health checks because this can assist with preventing and diagnosing ailments early,” she explained.

The other topic that was discussed is that of mental health.
“Society expects men to suppress their emotions and not talk about their feelings, which affect relationships with their children, partners and other aspects of their lives.”
This opportunity also offered the participants an opportunity to undergo a health screening.
