Taxi ride ends in hijacking

The man picked up two men who told him they were going to Zamani Section.

A Duduza man was hijacked by two men after he picked them up last Thursday night.
It is alleged the victim driving a white Toyota Corolla (HNN112GP) along Woodpecker Street in Bluegum View, picked up two men who told him they were going to Zamani Section.

The car operates as a local taxi.
One of them got into the front and the other in the back.
“The driver heard a gun being cocked and placed against his head.
“He was instructed to stop the car, which he did.
“He was then forced into the passenger’s seat at gunpoint,” explained Capt Johannes Ramphora, communications officer at Springs Police Station.

One of the hijackers is reported to have climbed into the driver’s seat and driving off.
The two also demanded money from the victim.
“The car slowed down on Vlakfontein Road and the victim was pushed out.
“The suspects then sped off,” added Ramphora.
The car was later recovered in Tsakani and two suspects was arrested.
